Most Americans Don't Feel Palin Is Qualified

From Washington Post:

"more than seven in 10 Americans now saying she is unqualified, up from 60 percent in a November survey."

Glad to hear that. While Palin might be trying to become the leader of the Tea Party, I hope repubs realize she is a liability. Also in the article:

"Two-thirds of Americans are 'dissatisfied' or downright 'angry' about the way the federal government is working"

While dems probably have some responsibility in this, I find that repubs (who don't like government, try everything they can to stop, clog, or "drown" the government) is the main reason for this. I am appalled at how the repubs ran the government into the ground from 2000-2008 then lost their asses in two elections and were at the helm when the worst recession of our lifetimes almost sank our economy, can possibly have any real say in how our government is governed. But with just 4o senators, they are basically running the show.

DailyKos Poll Shows Craziness of Republican Base

DailyKos had a recent study done to see how crazy the repub base is. It comes back pretty shocking. Here are some highlights:

Do you think Barack Obama is a socialist?

Yes 63
No 21
Not Sure 16

Do you believe Sarah Palin is more qualified to be President than Barack Obama?

Yes 53
No 14
Not Sure 33

Do you believe Barack Obama is a racist who hates White people?

Yes 31
No 36
Not Sure 33

Should gay couples receive any state or federal benefits?

Yes 11
No 68
Not Sure 21

Check it out. There are some other really disturbing part and Kos kind of has a point about all of this.

"Ultimately, these results explain why it is impossible for elected Republicans to work with Democrats to improve our country. Their base are conspiracy mongers who don't believe Obama was born in the United States, that he is the second coming of Lenin, and that he is racist against white people."

This is why dems should not try and negotiate with repubs. They are useless.

Most People Want A Public Option

The public option in Obama's health care plan has been taking a beating recently. Some articles even say it might get cut out completely. Now, there is a new poll out showing a majority of people want a public option.

"A clear majority of Americans -- 72 percent -- support a government-sponsored health care plan to compete with private insurers, a new CBS News/New York Times poll finds."

The fight for the public health option is vital to the United States. Health care is a basic need/right. If not fixed, it will sink the economy and only separate the haves from the have nots more that it already is.

This can not be done in a bipartisan manner. Our dem leaders need to lead and to try and get both parties involved when the repubs don't want anything coming out of the Obama administration is insane.

This needs to be done. Just get it done.

Most Americans Support Major Overhaul of Health Care

A new Diageo/Hotline Poll shows that a majority 62% of Americans want health care reform. 38% of whom "strongly support" it.

It needs to be done. Why? Because of this.

"A recent study by Harvard University researchers found that the average out-of-pocket medical debt for those who filed for bankruptcy was $12,000. The study noted that 68 percent of those who filed for bankruptcy had health insurance. In addition, the study found that
50 percent of all bankruptcy filings were partly the result of medical expenses." (emphasis mine)

Penn Dems Favor Specter Primary Challenge

It looks like the dems of Pennsylvania don't think Arlen Specter should get a free pass. A poll out by Pennsylvania-based Susquehanna Polling and Research says that the majority of Pennsylvania's (63%) feel that Specter needs to be challenged:

"In the 2010 race for U.S. Senate, by a 63/28 margin most Democrats believe Specter should face a challenge from one or more other Democrats in the 2010 Democratic primary in order to secure the nomination (9% are undecided). This suggests most Democrats want Specter to earn his rightful place as the Democratic nominee despite comments by Democratic Party officials and leaders that Specter should be given a free ride in the primary."

Damn straight. In a democracy, no is annointed!
