Even Joe The Plumber is Quitting the GOP

Say it ain't so Joe. It seems that the GOP can't even keep its hard core base. Joe the Plumber, the guy who McCain spent a lot of money promoting Joe the Plumber during his campaign, is now leaving the repub party due to GOP "overspending."

You know its bad when the guy who had no future until you came along and made him money, leaves you because you spend too much money. A real kick in the family jewels.

GOP- Quite Your Bitching

Obama's new 3.4 trillion budget proposal is heavy in domestic spending. Also in there is this:

" a plan to trim or eliminate 121 programs at a savings of $17 billion."

Sooooooo, repubs please see title.

Schwarzenegger Open To Legalizing Marijuana

While gay marriage is on the ropes in Cali, it seems that Schwarzenegger is starting the debate of legalizing marijuana. SFGate.com:

"Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said Tuesday that the time is right to debate legalizing marijuana for recreational use in California."

Why is this coming now? I think people are starting to realize that with overfilled prisons, money shortages, and that it is already legal on a medical level, why not take the next step?

"The governor's comments were made as support grows nationwide for relaxing pot laws and only days after a poll found that for the first time a majority of California voters back legal marijuana. Also, a San Francisco legislator has proposed regulating and taxing marijuana to bring the state as much as $1.3 billion a year in extra revenue."

Not only do we get money, the current war in Mexico will be changed dramatically b/c Cali is a huge border crossing for weed. Take away the cartel power and  you will definitely help out Mexico.

Now Maine is Ahead of California

Maine signed into law equal marriage rights for homosexuals. The second state legislature (versus court decree) in the U.S. to create equality court rulings.

I wonder how in the hell California will change its law. The recent Cali supreme court procedings did not bode well for gay marriage. Some people think, based on the questions asked by the justices, that they are inclined to uphold the voter approved law.

GOP's New Logo

Found this over at Dailykos. Very funny.

Obama's Going After Tax Loopholes

Obama is targeting big business in his attempt to get big companies to pay their fair share. His aim is to close loopholes that allow business to reduce their tax payments:

"One key proposed change would restrict companies from deferring the payment of taxes on profit earned overseas. Administration officials said the plan would keep businesses from taking deductions against their taxes by inflating the amount of foreign taxes they paid."

What is the corporate response?

"it could lead not to the administration’s hoped-for repatriation of taxes but rather to job losses or higher prices as companies try to compensate for a greater tax burden."

Status quo for corporations. But what is the benefit of closing the loopholes. 210 BILLION.
