GOP Going Down In Flames

It might be a total shame that the health care bill has been gutted by Lieberman but the dems are standing together and about to pass health care (next week) to the chagrin of the GOP. So now the GOP has asked the senate, legally, to read a 787 pg amendment. This will take 12 hours.

Are these the last gasps of a party that can do nothing? The problem, however, is that this tactic will eat into time for passing other things. Like Defense Appropriations Bill (troop funding). The GOP is playing chicken with the very people they're elected defend. There is so much disgrace on the part of the repub party it actually makes me sick. Playing chicken with troops lives. Sad sorry bunch,

300th Post...Immigration

I hope you have liked the website. Immigration is going to the be marking the 300th post. Not skipping a beat, the house has introduced an immigration bill that will surely set off an ugly fight in congress. This probably won't be taken up until next year, but it is the initial volley of what is to be a telling fight.

Representative Luis V. Gutierrez, Democrat of Illinois introduced his bill saying that "Here, this is what we want; our proposal is out of the box,"

What does it have in it. "a path to legal status for millions of illegal immigrants." This will definitely anger repubs.

After dems pass health care and the economy starts moving upwards, this will definitely help the dems in the long run. The crazies on the right will come out of the woodwork like 3 years ago, and remind the entire country of the kind people in the repub party. This will hopefully drive independents towards the dems. The biggest obstacle for dems in the 2010 election is turnout. The right is energized, the left...not so much.

McCain Gets Angrier

With McCain's aspirations of being president dead in the water, he has decided to just get angrier about his situation.

From Politicalwire who got it from NYT:

"If Mr. McCain has had a history of being a happy warrior, that is not the phrase used by many of his friends to describe his demeanor these days. There are few glimpses of the winks, wry smiles and one-liners that were once an integral part of his character. More typically, his remarks are tinged with sarcasm or anger, delivered with a wave of the arm or both hands chopping through the air..."

Sad to see it but with a primary challenge coming in a party which is extremely more conservative, this maverick has a hell of a fight ahead of him.

Troubling Retirements

Recently, 3 congressional dems have stated their intention to retire giving repubs possible easy pickups in the upcoming 2010 election. When the dems lost control of the house in 1994, they had 30 dems retiring.

Now, while we only have three, this does not mean it will continue to the point of 1994 levels. But it is troubling. The dems are meeting soon to discuss how to stop/slow the reps from retiring.

Lieberman Is A Horrible Person

With a good chance that a dem health care bill could get passed with a new agreement has been, Lieberman pokes up his ugly head saying he will filibuster the compromise. This has thrown the dem party into a frustrated tizzy on how to accommodate this moron.

Now we hear from Politco that the whitehouse has told Reid to make a deal. If I have ever supported the idea of passing a Public Option via reconciliation, this is it! Lieberman is obsessed with whatever petty shit he can get away with. It is time to take everything from him. Committee assignments and whatever else he gets from the dems. Reduce him to chairman of the cloak room.

This man is a sad sorry excuse of a politician.
