Sonia Sotomayor Sworn In

The newest memeber of the SCOTUS is Sonia Sotomayor. A highly qualified individual with years of experience who just so happens to be a latina female.

Also, did anyone else seem to notice that GOP Florida Sen Mel Martinez, a latino, was at the front row during the vile repub senate speeches spouting about the supposed Sonia racism. Also, did anyone notice that Mel's resignation came on the same day she was sworn in?

Kind of makes you wonder if the hate in the repub party turned off one of their senators?

Sonia Sotomayor Cleared Senate

Sonia Sotomayor is going to be the next Supreme Court Justice. Basically along party lines, 9 repubs voted for her. 7 of whom are retiring. Of the 12 repub senators up for relection in 2010, all 12 voted against her.

Go figure.

Today there won't be much. All senators will give a speech. There are 19 senators on the committee so do the math.

Tomorrow will start the questioning. Things to watch for:

1. GOP senators will not go blood. They can't afford appearing too aggressive because the latino vote is huge.

2. Look for tough questions but just poking and prodding on the part of the GOP. They are going to look for weaknesses and try to exploit them but don't expect too much.

3. Expect non answers. Really long non answers.
