Murphy Leading in NY 20 Special Election

The special election to fill Gillibrand's spot is going well for the dems. (Gillibrand replaced Clinton's senate seat after she took the sec of state.) This is a highly repub area with a 7000 edge voter registration list so technically the repubs should be winning. That just ain't so.

"In the NY-20 special election, the latest update shows Scott Murphy's (D) lead is now 46 votes over Jim Tedisco (R)."

Now there are still lots of absontee ballots to count but this should have been over on election night with Tedisco winning. But it wasn't. It can go either way but there are good indications that the dems will be keeping this seat.

Update: Murphy now has  a 35 vote lead.

When Is an Increase a Cut?

The right wing has trotted out its newest line of attack. Attacking Obama for "cutting" the Pentagon's budget. But the confusing part is that he's increased the Pentagons budget by about 50 billion.

Here's the vid.

So, the lies continue!

Repub Gov's Really Don't Like the Voters

Ever since the stimulus passed some repub govs have been saying they won't take the money for political aspirations financial reasons. (Mainly, they want to run for pres in 2012.) Now, both dem and repub state reps are turning against them.

"But what began with a bang is ending with something closer to a whimper. All three of those governors have been forced to scale back their expectations, to varying degrees, as the push of conservative philosophy gave way to the pull of political reality....All three found that praise from the conservative movement in Washington meant nothing to furious state legislators of both parties."

Basically, they wanted to cut unemployment from the money and some wanted to cut health care as well.

I can tell you how sick it makes me to think that these fools would trade money/benefits for those down and out for political aspirations of the future.

Blagojevich Indicted

Its about time. Something interesting though. New details are coming out. It seems, Blagojevich was going after Rahm Emmanuel.

From the Chicago Tribune

Rahm "was allegedly the subject of extortion in 2006 after he inquired about a $2 million state grant to benefit a school in his district. Prosecutors say Blagojevich instructed a top aide to block the release of the money, even though it had been included in the state's budget."

Sick dude.

Iowa Has Their Priorities Straight

It is a sad day when Iowa is recognizing gay marriage and California is going backwards. Today, the Iowa state supreme court nullified a state law that forbid gay marriage.

"The Iowa Supreme Court this morning upheld a Polk County judge’s 2007 ruling that marriage should not be limited to one man and one woman."

Wow, I wish us Californians could catch up with Iowa!

Republicans Calling for Newly Elected Senator Begich to Resign

The repubs are shameless. They consistently sink to new lows. They are now asking, ney, demanding for Begich to resign. Why? Because the election he won was tainted. Now that Holder let former Alaska Senator Stevenson off the hook (which he was guilty of) they are saying Begich didn't win fairly.

What a sad sorry state of affairs when repubs don't like the results and demand the winner, who's a dem, to resign.

New lows.

Dodd Not Doing Well

Dem Senator Chris Dodd is having major problems. Big enough to get him ousted in his reelection in 2010.  His poll numbers might get him to be asked to step aside.

From Politicalwire:

"Devastating poll numbers this morning should increase the pressure on Sen. Christopher Dodd (D-CT) to consider retirement so a safe Democratic seat doesn't turn into a Republican one."
