W Bush Still A Childish Boy

Bush Still Blamed For Crappy Economy

Coming from NYTimes poll:

"While the president is showing signs of vulnerability on his handling of the economy — a majority of respondents say he has yet to offer a clear plan for creating jobs — Americans blame former President George Bush, Wall Street and Congress much more than they do Mr. Obama for the nation’s economic problems and the budget deficit, the poll found."

Thank god for that. Too much has been said criticizing the mop Obama has had to use to clean up the Bush/repub mess. While the economy is Obama's he's not being blamed for the problem. Obama needs to get people back to work. That, more than anything else, would be the deciding factor for his reelection in 2012.

Bush Admin Involved in Attorney Firings

The release of thousands of pages of testimony show that Bush white house players, such as Karl Rove and Harreit Meirs, did play a role in the firings of numerous attorneys. Why were they fired? Because the did not carry the GOP water. They weren't "loyal" repubs.

This only confirms what most everyone knew. Bush highjacked the government and the only people who could work there needed to pledge an oath to the repub party. If not, you are out.

This just goes to show, even to dems, that good government employees come from both sides of the political spectrum. Too much of any one thought or ideological side only leads to a poorly run government.

Dick Told CIA To Conceal Program. Could Lead To Special Prosecutor

The movement to investigate the Bush/Cheney administration just got a shot in the arm over the weekend with a couple of stories.

First, as reported here, Director of the CIA Leon Panetta told congress that they had misled/lied to congress about programs.

Second, it was revealed in that same briefing by Leon that Cheney told the CIA not to inform congress about special programs. Which is illegal.

Last, with the new information about all this illegal stuff, Eric Holder is seriously considering a special prosecutor to investigate.

I feel the drip drips of the Bush/Cheny Whitehouse have now turned into a slow pour. As I have said before, this is too huge and drips will suck all news/headlines. There needs to be an investigation to save Obama's agenda.

Obama v Cheney

Obama's speech on national security was not accidentally scheduled on the same day as Cheney. In politics who you choose to fight with is as important as what you say. Why not choose another republican. Why not RNC chair Michael Steele? Or Palin or any of the others?

Its because by choosing the opponent you also choose how you shape your message. Obama chose an old time GOP guy who everyone knows and only 25% of the population likes. By making war with Cheney, Obama goes after the image of the old white guy who would drown anyone who gets in his way. Obama's message is juxtaposed against Cheney's. On one hand you have a constituational scholar saying that torture actually hurts U.S. interests, helps recruit terrorists, and reduces our stature in the world. On the other hand you have a cranky old figure head saying waterboarding actually helped the U.S.

The same happened back in 2004. During the dem primary fight between Dean, Kerry, and Edwards, Bush had started attacking Kerry which elevated Kerry position in the dem party and eventually giving Kerry the dem nomination. At the end of the day, why did Bush go after Kerry? Look at the opponent Bush chose: New England, rich, private school, entitled senator. The person they were worried about was Edwards. Southern, came from nothing, good looking. (But who really knew what a douche Edwards ended up being.)

The Torture Damn is Breaking

Bush used torture and all his attempts at covering it up are coming out. The disclosure of the legal memos  showed that they tortured one guy 183. Jesus christ. This was not for information. It was payback.

Now, The Times shows a history of how the torture came about. And not because they needed info. The history started about a couple of months after 9/11.

"In a series of high-level meetings in 2002, without a single dissent from cabinet members or lawmakers, the United States for the first time officially embraced the brutal methods of interrogation it had always condemned."

No one stopped to say "Hey, maybe this is illegal or immoral or just wrong."

Then there's the stupidity of the players:

"They did not know that some veteran trainers from the SERE program itself had warned in internal memorandums that, morality aside, the methods were ineffective. Nor were most of the officials aware that the former military psychologist who played a central role in persuading C.I.A. officials to use the harsh methods had never conducted a real interrogation, or that the Justice Department lawyer most responsible for declaring the methods legal had idiosyncratic ideas that even the Bush Justice Department would later renounce.

The process was 'a perfect storm of ignorance and enthusiasm,' a former C.I.A. official said."

Obama needs to have an independent investigation into this whole thing. He NEEDS  to clean the closet on this one and many others. I hope this investigation will spill over into an investigation into wire tapping as well.

Yep, They Tortured

Coming out from the post is an article saying that a judge finally admitted the Bush administration tortured. 

The top Bush administration official in charge of deciding whether to bring Guantanamo Bay detainees to trial has concluded that the U.S. military tortured a Saudi national...

and the judge, Susan J. Crawford, further said

We tortured [Mohammed al-]Qahtani,

Now that a judge has found that Bush tortured people, will we get a prosecution? Probably not.

His treatment met the legal definition of torture. And that's why I did not refer the case" for prosecution.

Which makes absolutely no fucking sense.
