No Dough for the Repubs

With about 50 less repubs in the House since 2005 and 15 less repubs in the senate, the repubs are losing the money race

"House Republicans raised less money in the first three months than in each of the first quarters of the previous three election cycles, according to the data. Republicans raised $17.8 million in the first quarter of this year, down 14% from the same period in 2007 and 31% from the 2005 quarter. There are about 50 fewer Republicans in the House this year than in 2005."

As for the dems:

"Contributions to Democrats for the first three months rose slightly relative to 2007; there are about 20 more House Democrats than two years ago."

This would make sense because more dems in both houses need money. So I hope the dems are winning the money race. If not, then we have serious problems. But, we don't.

Franken Won. Minnesotans Want Coleman to Concede

From the great state of Minnesota:

"63% of voters in the state think that Coleman should just concede the race himself.  That includes almost all of Franken and Dean Barkley’s supporters, as well as a third of respondents who voted for Coleman last fall.

59% express support both for Pawlenty certifying Franken as the winner and for Franken being seated immediately."

Time for Coleman to go. If the repub party wants a future in Minnesota, then Coleman should concede.

Franken Wins! (Again)

The three-judge panel presiding over the Minnesota senate recount appeal has unanimously ruled in favor of Al Franken. From the analysts I have read, the judges did a good job on their opinions. They were pretty conservative in their judgements and made a successful appeal that much harder for Coleman.

Coleman will most likely continue to fight, his legal team expenses being paid for by national repubs, in order to keep the 59th dem senator from casting a vote in the senate.

The problem is the national repubs might be hurting Minnesota state repubs. The state repub party could be hurting themselves down the line with this drawn out circus.

Right Has Only the "Bitter Rump" Left

While the right is still kind of a force, the reasonable people have been leaving in droves. What is left? Well, dailykos finds a good discussion about that over at Balloon Juice:

"And even then, the problem isn’t one nutcase. The problem is that you are whittled down to nothing but the bitter rump, and you are discovering that not only does the camera add ten pounds, but it also adds a heap of crazy. When you play back the nonsense you have been spewing for the past couple of years, you don’t like what you see. I guess you have something in common with the rest of the country."

The bold was mine and the line is amazing.

The entry does a good job of basically saying the right has been spewing so much crazy for so long now that the rational people took off and what you have left are the crazies spewing the same crazy talking points of Oreilly, Beck, and Limbaugh. So, the crazies are getting more airtime and in turn, turning more people off the repub brand. It is starting to become a perpetual cycle and if left unchecked spells real trouble for the repubs.

This whole situation the repubs face is like accidentally forgetting to turn off the heat in your boiling pot of rice. What your left over with is the hard crusty nastiness at the bottom of the pot. Because who likes burnt rice??? Crazy people
